I could never decide on my favorite colour so I'm always trying to avoid this question as it starts a hurricane of thoughts on this particular topic, where I end up defending all the colours and looking for reasons why they could be my favorite one, the one and only. And of course I end… Continue reading A place where everything is a big blue hug.
If you listen to your stomach you’ll end up in Lazania!
This little village in the Nicosia district (that has nothing to do with Lasagna from the food cathegory, sadly) was a lovely little gem on the way back. Lately I realized I prefer more and more old, empty, abandon places instead of crowded, busy streets. I was never a huge fan, but this new obsession… Continue reading If you listen to your stomach you’ll end up in Lazania!
Mountains called, they wanted for us to get lost in them.
The charm of chillin' at the beach in one moment and hiking up the mountains in the next one - Cyprus definitely has that. Of course Slovenia has that too, but when you live here you get used to things like that and of course everywhere else is more exciting! We grabbed some more coffee… Continue reading Mountains called, they wanted for us to get lost in them.
She collected waves and covered her eyes with every 7th one.
There are so many saying and metaphors for life as train tracks or a river, but I prefer the version where life looks like an ocean, like a sea and hits us with waves - small ones, big ones, no waves at all or a friggin tsunami. You know, typical unpredictable sea behaviour, more unpredictable… Continue reading She collected waves and covered her eyes with every 7th one.
Take me back to the island life right meow!
At first I was amazed at how many cats I’m seeing with my own two eyes, but after a while I thought it was weird if there were no cats around. Even though I’m more of a dog person I’m still a huge fan of animals so these balls of fur made the streets look […]
Salt up your life!
So I'm not really a spending-my-summer-on-the-beach kind of girl, but I gotta say I'm really getting more and more fond of the seaside... if I ignore all the giant squids and other monstrosities hidden in the depths of the water. So whenever I see something resembling a huge puddle of blue anything I instantly yell… Continue reading Salt up your life!
Paint me like one of those Limassol walls.
If you didn’t at least giggle at this horrible Titanic reference our friendship would sink. Just like Titanic did, ha. On a more land note, here are some more photos from the Street life festival in Limassol, as promised. Did I mention how much fun was it taking photos of this? Yes? Well, I had… Continue reading Paint me like one of those Limassol walls.
The city looks so pretty, do you want to paint it with me?
I would start this by saying "On a nice day there's nothing like setting off for the beach", but here's the thing - every day here is a nice day and beach is basically everywhere. Anyhow, we did set off for the beach, but mainly because of the Street life festival in Limassol. It seems… Continue reading The city looks so pretty, do you want to paint it with me?
Streets of Nicosia, show me what you got!
Nicosia, the largest city and the capital of Cyprus since the 10th century, you go Nicosia! Which is pretty badass, what's not badass though is the fact that the city was separated into Northern/Turkish and Southern/Greek part in 1974. There's an actual border in the middle of the city, dividing what used to be, but… Continue reading Streets of Nicosia, show me what you got!
Cyprus, I’ll C you soon!
I am quite a fan of random decisions, one of them was randomly booking a flight to Cyprus few months ago. Well, not too random though. Having friends all around the world might suck sometimes, because you don't get to spend the time together and you miss them just like all the time, but there's… Continue reading Cyprus, I’ll C you soon!
Trying not to be so lime in the kitchen
So this is what I'd call one of my many attempts at not totally sucking in the cooking department or you can also take this post as my realization that I'll never ever be a food blogger, no matter how awesome it seems & sounds. It was a lovely sunny Sunday so of course I… Continue reading Trying not to be so lime in the kitchen
A day for a change
Everything changes all the time, there's no denying in that, but how many changes are we making ourselves for a better life for us and others? I think there's always some room for improvement no matter if it's personal growth, cause we care about or something else. I know from my personal experiences that it… Continue reading A day for a change
Every “Oh, but you know what you should do …” is followed by “How about no.”
So we've all been there, right? Doing something our own way and while talking to somebody about this thing they keep looking at you (probably stopped listening when you said the first thing they didn't agree on) and sort of nod from time to time and then say in this very pretentious tone: "Oh, but… Continue reading Every “Oh, but you know what you should do …” is followed by “How about no.”
When nothing goes right, go somewhere else
And no I don't have any runaway strategy in mind I want to defend in front all of you. Because running way from your problems is not the solution, blah blah blah. Okay, let me elaborate on this. I've already mentioned that 2016 definitely wasn't my year, if anything it was damn far away from… Continue reading When nothing goes right, go somewhere else
One yearly ticket for the grand emotional rollercoaster, please!
Even though I don't remember ever uttering these words, here I am holding a golden ticket. But I guess I am a "big girl" now and obviously tall enough for this particular rollercoaster of funny nonsense. It's been hell of a year, but I can't really say if it was a bad or a good one,… Continue reading One yearly ticket for the grand emotional rollercoaster, please!
… and the living is easy or “uzmite keksiće, sve će se srediti”!
It's been a while since I've spent some time at the seaside. It's been a while since I've spent my summer staying in Ljubljana, not attending any summer schools or travelling around to be honest. So after my most-of-the-time- freezing Irish adventure and before my oh-fingers-crossed-this-happens adventure in Autumn I've decided to stay in the… Continue reading … and the living is easy or “uzmite keksiće, sve će se srediti”!
“While I was looking for myself”
Why do we travel? For many different reasons, that's for sure. Usually we just wanna runaway for a while, get lost in a strange city where we can be whatever we want to be with no previous attachments whatsoever. But I'm pretty sure that the deepest desire behind the running away is the persuit of… Continue reading “While I was looking for myself”
“I live in Dublin, God knows why.”
Yes, I'm opening this post with a quotation by this irish guy, John Banville, who sounds not too shabby of a novelist (at least according to Wikipedia and Nabokov). So, why really? It's raining all the time, it's expensive as hell (we're assuming that it's really expensive there, like 6€ for a pint) and does… Continue reading “I live in Dublin, God knows why.”
Cache me if you can or how to explain all my bruises and blisters.
"Rise and shine" I mumbled to myself in my sleepy voice as I got up and awkwardly sort of fell climbing down the bunk ladder. Thanks to that I have matching bruises on both of my arms, one from slipping in the bath tub last week. As you may tell I'm the master of self-inflicted… Continue reading Cache me if you can or how to explain all my bruises and blisters.
Seagull way? Almost, I’m off to see Galway.
It's official: the world is coming to an end! Even though it seems that every week there's someone announcing the end of the world somewhere, this is not the case. I don't believe any of them, but a whole week of sunshine in Dublin? Well, that's something guys, I tell ya. So in disbelief of… Continue reading Seagull way? Almost, I’m off to see Galway.
Watch out for the cliffs, yo.
Day off? And it's sunny? Off we go then! Gotta love day trips from Dublin. So this time (few weeks ago ho ho) we got on the train and went to the suburbs of Dublin. Originally a fishing village in Dublin bay - Howth (Binn Éadair for all you irish enthusiasts) is such a lovely… Continue reading Watch out for the cliffs, yo.
The city looks so pretty…do you wanna paint it with me?
Saturday. 1 month since I set my foot in the city of thousand welcomes. If I didn't mention it before, everybody is super nice here. Like super duper nice. I would basically add half of the Dublin already because I consider them my friends after lovely meaningless chitchats haha. Everybody is so friggin nice. I… Continue reading The city looks so pretty…do you wanna paint it with me?
When a potato says “Let’s get mashed!” you might as well do what he says.
It's been three weeks already? Time sure flies fast when you're having fun. Or just have too many things to do. Or both. So, new week means new excuse why I didn't write something sooner and trust me, this one's a good one! As you may know there's this one thing called St. Patrick's day… Continue reading When a potato says “Let’s get mashed!” you might as well do what he says.
“…to hell with lemonade, just go with the beer!”
Let's face it, I'm a lazy blogger, but at least now I have an excuse cause I can say that the twins are quite handful. Which is 158% true. My first weekend off in Dublin - what to do, what to do... Well, I packed all the things that would come in handy and bought… Continue reading “…to hell with lemonade, just go with the beer!”
Whoever said all beginnings are hard was damn right!
So my first week as an au pair was...something. There were, obviously, ups and downs. Few times I found myself just sitting on the floor in the middle of the chaos thinking "What the hell I'm doing with my life?" But there were also moments when I was all like "I TOTALLY GOT THIS!" I… Continue reading Whoever said all beginnings are hard was damn right!
How’s it going bud?
And no I haven't used any of my irish phrases on an actual human here. I arrived two days ago and Ireland greeted me with rainy embrace. There were two little fellows waiting for me at the airport and what at first looked like being shy evolved into Iwanttodoanythingwithyana! My first two days here were… Continue reading How’s it going bud?
Because I never post things on time.
(I swear that's gonna go on my "New Year's resolutions" list!) So in the beginning of November I was invited to the great feast of St. Martin. You don't know what that is? Well, I googled it for you. You're welcome. Supposedly this Martin guy was known as a friend of the children and patron… Continue reading Because I never post things on time.
Would you like to spend a night out?
With shitload of work and lectures it's almost impossible to chill in the center by day, but night is a whole new story. That's why I usually just miss breakfast, because sleep isn't overrated - it's just plain awesome! Streets of Kraków in summer are just amazing, so many things going on from awesome street… Continue reading Would you like to spend a night out?
Randomness is awesome.
So first week is pretty much over. Everything's happening so fast and I still didn't get a proper sleep.Too many places to go, too many things to see. Quick summary of my random observations. There seems to be an infinite number of stairs in Poland, but as long as you get a view like this… Continue reading Randomness is awesome.
They obviously ran out of princes on white horses.
A day well spent in medieval atmosphere. Almost two hour ride from Krakow and there it is: Ogrodzieniec castle... or better say what's left of him. Ruins are proofs that if something's ruined it doesn't mean that it can't be beautiful. P. S. Polish vegetarian sandwiches are really something!
Jagiellonian university, sup?
Polish people take summer schools a bit too seriously I guess. We have morning classes and afternoon lectures about literature, culture and stuff like that. And for those with scholarships it's obligatory, of course, 132 hours to be exact. So we're spending all of our time in the "university" or in the dining room, eating.… Continue reading Jagiellonian university, sup?
It’s getting dark.
Streets of Krakow have their own heartbeat, that's for sure. After a chill day and university ceremony followed a chill afternoon with a beer on the main square till the sun went down. There was also some sort of "I think we're lost" situation going on, but nothing that tram rides can't solve. Still getting… Continue reading It’s getting dark.
Jedziemy do Krakowa!
Last minute packing or why the hell do I need this?! No no, I'll definitely need my gameboy. Catching the bus or excitement about 13 hours drive with major lack of sleep. Meeting fellow Slovenian on the bus by accident or fate? Getting lost at the the bus station itself or "my orientation is not… Continue reading Jedziemy do Krakowa!
